Introduction

This article is Part 2 - which i going to explain Step-By-Step to Create a SharePoint Publishing Website. My previous article was about the different types of the default site templates in SharePoint 2007. My Learning Experience in MOSS2007 - Part 1

Steps to Create SharePoint 2007 Publishing Website

  • Login to the SharePoint 2007 Central Administration website
  • Under the Application Management tab, Click on “Create or extend Web application” link under the “SharePoint Web Application Management”. See the screen shot below:

  • In the next page click on “Create a new Web application” link:

  • The Next page, you will need to fill out the form for creating your website in the IIS. See the form belew, we have filled out for our website

  • in our project, we are creating new IIS website with a port 81, and keeping it in the default virtual directory.

    our website URL will be http://dev-server:81/
  • Scroll down to complete filling the form.

    Creating the application pool for the website and configuring the user account.

  • Fill out the database information
  • Image Loading
  • When you are done. Click the "OK" button. You will have to wait until the website creating finish. Then the following page will come up.

    find the “Create Site Collection” link in the middle of the page and click on it to create the publishing website.
  • Fill out the form, and select the publishing portal from the template section. see the figure below:

  • When finish click “OK” button. Now the website is successfully created at http://dev-server:81/Pages/default.aspx
